Reading
Rescue Program: Implementation
The Literacy Trust requires three years for professional development and program
implementation. After the five-day initial training, one-day follow-ups for all
tutors are critically spaced over the three-year period. Additionally, the Reading
Rescue Coordinator/Literacy Coach from each school site is required to attend
five-day Summer Institutes at the conclusion of each school year during the three-year
agreement period. Methodologies used for all training and professional development
activities minimize the use of lectures and emphasize experiential, hands-on learning
approaches such as: -
Small
groups
-
Large
group discussions
-
Pairs
and Triad activities
-
Role
plays
-
Practice
sessions
-
Videotapes
of actual tutoring sessions
